Deactivate or delete merchandise categories
You can deactivate merchandise categories that you no longer use. You can permanently remove deactivated merchandise categories from the system by deleting them (Attention!). We recommend that you do not delete groups so that you can access this data if necessary. Within the hierarchy, the selection of higher-level groups always means that the required modifications also affect the lower-level groups.
With the button Item you can check whether articles are assigned to a product group and whether it is still used in sales distributions before setting it to inactive. Select a group and press the button Item. You receive a list of all items which were assigned to the merchandise category.
A yes in the VKWG column means that the item is assigned to this merchandise category as a sales merch andise category, a yes in UmsV means that the item uses the merchandise category for sales distribution. Both should be changed beforehand and only then should the product group be deleted.
Groups that are inactive can be deleted.
- Disable the Show active groups only option.
- Select an inactive group (indicated by the red background color of the row).
- Press the Delete button in the button bar.
Groups that are deleted undergo several checks:
At first it is checked whether this group is still actively assigned to items, only if no item is assigned to this group, the group can be deleted. In this first step, however, it is not removed from the database, but set as INACTIVE.
Such inactive groups can then be made visible by deactivating the "Show active groups only" option button.
Groups masked in red can be selected and then deleted. After confirmation of two security queries, the booking journal internally checks whether this group has been used in the last two years and issues corresponding warnings.
Please bear in mind that deleting categories may result in a state in your data that cannot be traced. Likewise, items assigned to these categories may be incomplete without this information, so that errors may occur in some areas of the programs. When deleting merchandise categories, you should ensure that affected items are assigned to other suitable merchandise categories as a substitute.
