CLOU MOBILE update service

CLOU Mobile for Windows compatible devices (mostly Microsoft Handheld 6.5 Professional or Classic operating systems) are automatically updated with updates from Hypersoft. Due to security restrictions of the operating system, this does not take place without cooperation.

Simplified procedure as of May 2019

Together with a service pack or hotfix that can be automatically sent to you, update information may also be distributed to the POS system and mobile devices. The first time mobile devices are used after an update, these updates must be confirmed once.

If you look at the screen when you transfer updates, you can see the following information:

If the system has determined that it is possible to replace only the main program, this dialog appears:

(If a complete setup needs to be performed, another procedure described below will appear.)

After confirming OK, a query appears which must be answered once for this update with Yes (or Yes):

If the update was answered with Yes once, the query for this update does not appear again.

If you don't answer yes, the question will be repeated up to three times, otherwise you will get to the Windows interface. From there, you can call up the process again: Select the Windows logo and then Clou Mobile. The query is also repeated each time the device is restarted.

Setup Update Procedure

If the simplified procedure is not sufficient, a setup is started.

The problem with a setup is that if it is rejected (usually by accident), it does not ask again or start again, so that manual intervention is then required.

If the CLOU Mobile finds a new program version (on the server) after the login of an operator, a message appears that there is an update and that this is now being installed.

They are guided by simple YES/NO selection. We recommend that you log in before using the software so that the update can be installed outside business hours.

If there has never been an update on the device before, this query may appear once:

The dialog must be confirmed with Yes or Yes at the bottom left.

Every program on the mobile device must receive this permission for the first time.

Then the update program transfers the setup and offers it for installation. The selection must be confirmed with OK.

This query may appear, which must be confirmed with the Installbutton.

If the update fails, the device is automatically restarted and the update is reinstalled - thus most of the problems that prevented the update are fixed. At the end of the update, CLOU Mobile is automatically started again.

When installing a Hypersoft Suite service pack, the WebService or IIS responsible for the interface to the mobile devices is always restarted. It is therefore advisable to log out of all CLOU Mobile devices before a service pack.

A copy of the setup is stored as !ClouSetup in the main directory and on the drive ( example "IPSM" in orbit ).
