Reliable WLAN for Hypersoft mobile devices - recommendations & support tips

Hypersoft mobile devices - especially mPOS cash registers and mobile payment terminals - are generally extremely stable and reliable. However, this requires a properly functioning WLAN network.

For minor problems, a look at the documentation or a call to Hypersoft Support will often help. Recurring or longer-lasting WLAN problems, on the other hand, are usually more complex and are often caused by structural or configuration weaknesses in the network.

Principle: If the WLAN works, the devices will also work

A stable WLAN is the basic prerequisite for smoothly functioning systems. However, there are many factors that influence WLAN stability. Here are some typical causes:

Frequent sources of error

  • Misconfiguration at the beginning: Too many, too few or incorrectly configured network components. Targeted reworking by the responsible IT service provider often helps here.

  • Problems after network changes: After changes to the WLAN or LAN, technical requirements are often overlooked - for example from the chapter "IP and port lists used".

  • Unstable Wi-Fi under load: A system works well with low usage, but shows delayed or unreliable behaviour under high load (e.g. many guests, many devices, external interference).

Recommendation: Complete live test before commissioning

For new installations in particular, we strongly recommend a test run under real full-load conditions together with your IT administration:

  • Maximum number of guests with smartphones (2.4 GHz/5 GHz interference)

  • Sources of interference such as ventilation systems, machines, motors

  • Load due to simultaneous use of all WLAN devices

Only when stable behaviour is ensured under these conditions is the use of Hypersoft systems also guaranteed.

What to do if WLAN cannot be set up stably?

The aim is to achieve "virtually interference-free WLAN".

If this is not possible, other technical or operational solutions must be evaluated.

Problem areas: City centre locations with high network density, events with many guests, devices with electromagnetic interference.

Performance of Hypersoft systems

Hypersoft systems are designed to work stably even with high guest volumes. It is not to be expected that a correctly configured POS system will cause waiting times or load errors due to normal sales loads.

Hypersoft support for your WLAN - responsibilities and procedure

Hypersoft only offers limited WLAN support as standard. The responsibilities are organised as follows:

Your obligation in the event of support

If Hypersoft Support indicates WLAN problems, you must have your WLAN checked.

If the error cannot be clearly assigned to a Hypersoft device, the responsibility lies with your IT partner.

If you enquire again, please refer to previous discussions/diagnoses.

After network changes

If you contact support after network changes, you are obliged to inform them of these changes. This is the only way your request can be assessed correctly.

Additional support outside the standard

You can order extended support (e.g. load testing outside opening hours) separately.

Devices can also be exchanged, but this is usually subject to a charge.

Hypersoft accepts no responsibility for WLAN/networks set up outside our scope of delivery.

Recommendation: WLAN according to Hypersoft standard

If you do not have permanently available IT administration or expect Hypersoft support for WLAN components, we recommend

  • WLAN components according to Hypersoft standard can be obtained directly from us

  • Alternatively, your IT can receive the standard from us and orientate itself on it

Note: Many Hypersoft specialist dealers have specially trained technicians who offer particularly effective solutions for certain manufacturers. These recommendations are based on practical experience - not on manufacturer loyalty.

WLAN components and quality classes

The prices and qualities of WLAN components vary considerably.

Although Hypersoft devices theoretically work with any WLAN, in practice precise configuration is often necessary - which is often not feasible with inexpensive hardware.

Possible causes of WLAN problems:

  • Firmware updates for routers/access points

  • Changes due to operating system updates

  • Software changes on mobile devices or in our software

→ The latter is in our hands - everything else requires your IT expertise or targeted support from specialists.
