Protel Integration

protel is one of the leading manufacturers of server-based software and cloud software for chains, large and medium-sized hotels. Both variants are successfully used with Hypersoft.
The Protel interface is the longest available and most frequently used PMS connection with Hypersoft and there are numerous references over decades. With Hypersoft, you can choose the Classic interface or the new XML interface. On the Protel site, this selection does not change anything.
Many operators who opt for protel have high demands, which they rightly want to implement in the POS area with the best solutions for the comfort of their guests.
Individual protel sales partners prefer differently oriented POS recommendations for the protel connection, which can generally also be sufficient. Unfortunately, some operators are deprived of their freedom of choice when Protel distributors make the claim that Hypersoft is not compatible with protel. On the contrary, Hypersoft has been successfully operating Protel for two decades.
Configure Protel data transfer
The Protel transfer path to Protel should be specified so that it is on the Hypersoft server / main computer / main cash register in the Hypers-!\Hotel directory. On the Protel side, the PCON service should be installed on the Hypersoft server / main computer / main cash register. The advantage of this variant compared to data transfer on a network drive or UNC path is that after a restart of the server, the service immediately re-establishes the connection and ensures file exchange. In addition, this prevents authorisation problems or restrictions of the IIS with regard to network drives / UNC connections.
Best Practice Use YourAPP with Protel
Turn your hotel into a digital hotel overnight with Hypersoft and Protel!
The combination of PMS and a powerful web app solution gives hotels the opportunity to expand their catering, additional services and internal communication in a structured manner.
Our YourAPP (your brand as its own app) is not just an ordering tool, but a digital extension of hotel operations. Strategic approach:
-
A hotel guest is already in the building.
-
He knows the environment.
-
He is available.
-
The question is not whether offers exist, but how they can be made visible and accessible.
A QR code in the room or in central areas provides direct access to the web app – without any installation hurdles. The application runs in a browser but behaves like a native app, which significantly lowers the barrier to use.
Structured offer management
YourAPP enables you to display offers in a targeted manner:
-
restaurant bookings
-
Table orders (in-house ordering)
-
Wellness or spa appointments
-
Event or ticket sales
-
Vouchers
-
loyalty programmes
-
retail products
-
Cross-location offers
The decisive factor is not functionality – the decisive factor is controllability. Items are only displayed if they are available. Product ranges can be adapted to resources at short notice. This does not create any additional organisational effort, but rather a controlled expansion of the existing system.
Economic outlook
The app is not primarily intended for image building, but rather for:
-
quality improvement
-
Increase in revenue per guest
-
better utilisation of internal areas
-
targeted communication of additional services
-
Reduction of operational friction losses
In conjunction with the PMS, a consistent system logic is created: Room → Information → Order → Booking → Billing
Integration ensures that ancillary services can be recorded and allocated in a structured manner.
Business benefits
Hotels that wish to actively manage their catering and additional services require:
-
visibility
-
easy accessibility
-
system integration
-
offer control
YourAPP expands the PMS with a sales-oriented level – without additional system breaks.
Digital reach in hotels is not achieved through technology, but through structured service management.

Most switches apply to all connections and are documentedon the main page. Here are the special features for Oracle:
| Element / Switch | Function / Description |
|---|---|
| Use sales distribution for merchandise categories | Sales distribution enables you to address two different merchandise categories from a single item. For details see: Sales distribution with PMS integration |
| Consider reservation number with excess length | In special cases it is necessary for the POS to support overlong reservation numbers for the search in the Protel PMS. This switch is used for this purpose. |
