Use layout collections
Using layout templates in a collection simplifies the layout of the keys enormously. At the same time, you avoid unwanted differences that can occur during multiple individual designs.
Best practice: Use layout templates for articles - faster booking, fewer errors, clear structure
A well-designed POS layout is not a "nice to have", but a real productivity factor. The faster operators find articles, the smoother the service runs - and the fewer errors occur.
Many companies invest a lot of time in manually designing individual articles, but this approach is error-prone, confusing and difficult to maintain in the long term. The much better solution: Work with layout templates and product group assignments. If you take into account the further recommendation: Standard setting for article sorting, the articles are sorted alphabetically and therefore logically with automatic layout on the POS touchscreen within the same colours.
Why layout templates are so effective
With a layout catalogue you define once:
-
Colours
-
Sizes
-
Fonts
-
Key display
And then simply assign these templates to the product groups.
-
Each article within the group is automatically given a consistent, clearly recognisable appearance.
-
New articles adopt the layout immediately - without reworking, without the risk of irritating deviations.
The result is a professional, standardised touchscreen design that users understand intuitively.
Speeds up work enormously
The combination with the standard item sorting setting creates a consistently logical overall picture:
-
Identical colours form visual groups, within these groups the articles are automatically sorted alphabetically.
The result:
-
Operators will find every item where they expect to find it,
-
new articles are automatically inserted cleanly,
-
Training costs are significantly reduced,
-
the error rate when booking is noticeably reduced.
-
Individual highlights remain possible
However, if you would like to emphasise an article (e.g. bestsellers or seasonal highlights), you can give it its own individual layout at any time. This overwrites the group template - without disturbing the order in the system.
Subgroups: even clearer structure per product group
For additional clarity, product groups can be subdivided into subgroups - e.g:
-
Appetisers product group
-
Soups subgroup
-
Salads subgroup
-
Snacks subgroup
Each subgroup has its own colour layout. New articles automatically appear in the right place: first grouped by colour, then sorted alphabetically. This is an enormous advantage, especially with larger maps.
Sales product groups: Standardised layout despite multiple assignments
If an article is called up at the POS via the merchandise group, it adopts the colour of its original merchandise group and the layout of the merchandise group by default - unless it has an individual article layout, which, as always, has priority.
This means that the POS remains consistent, even if articles appear in several areas.
Conclusion
With layout templates, you can create a clear, stable and extremely easy-to-maintain structure in the POS system:
-
consistent designs
-
automatic sorting
-
clear colour worlds
-
faster operation
-
fewer errors
-
less maintenance required
In short: a visual system that understands your operators - and not the other way round.
Create layout collections
Allows you to assign layout templates to buttons. The assignment can be made directly to an item or to a product group. In addition, you can define the layout for the merchandise category key yourself (merchandise category keys are only displayed in certain cases, for example, when the operator presses a main group and the cashier mode displays the merchandise categories contained in the main group for selection). Assigning a layout to a department key is important so that all items in the department automatically use the department layout.
The use of the key layouts can be accessed in several ways:
-
From the programme group POS settings, select the command Assign key layouts.
-
Select the layouts at Edit product groups.
-
You can gain access directly from the item master with the button Edit group layouts.
-
You can assign layout templates directly in Cashier mode by using the 1 1 + Execute command. You will then be asked to select a product group directly in cashier mode. When selected, the program Assign Key Layouts appears and offers you the assignment. After you have assigned layouts to all merchandise categories or the items they contain, exit the mode by entering the command 1 1 + Executeagain when cashing out. If you have deactivated the automatic item update, starting this function from the cashier mode is refused with a corresponding message.
| Element / Switch | Function / Description |
|---|---|
| Select group |
Select Group contains all three levels of the merchandise category structure. By indenting the main groups differ (far left) then the commodity groups come and double indented the subgroups. In the left list there are two columns called button. The field contents labeled Group can be selected to assign a layout to the merchandise category button itself. If this product group is then placed on the keyboard, the key is designed accordingly. If the group contains other groups without their own settings (!), the setting is inherited accordingly.
You act accordingly when deleting assignments with the Deletebutton . Further topics: Item direct keys - PLU If you select the field contents Item in the list on the left, their assignment refers to all items of the corresponding group and all subordinate groups without their own settings. In the item list on the right, you can directly select individual items and assign a layout to them. This assignment corresponds to an individual item layout that has priority over other assignments. If you click on the heading Item list all items are marked, you can then directly assign a layout to all items at once or delete all directly assigned layouts. |
