Bluetooth printer with mPOS

For the mPOS system you should prefer Bluetooth printers to WLAN printers. See also: (If "Should I use Bluetooth or WLAN printers?you want to set up WLAN printers use this documentation: WLAN printer with POS/mPOS.)

Older connections via Wifi...

mPOS also supports the WiFi printers R200 and R300 from Bixolon. The R300 is larger and uses 80 mm wide thermal paper like a standard thermal printer. The R200 is smaller and handier and uses 50 mm wide thermal paper. The standard print image is displayed on the smaller printer in true detail but at a reduced size. We recommend Bixolon Bluetooth printers!

Older pairing for CLOU MOBILE Bluetooth printer...

With the mPOS system, the printer is added via the Windows on-board means and then set up in the Hypersoft system as a normal serial printer. The CLOU MOBILE for Windows (Microsoft Handheld 6.5 operating system) is different: The printer must have been set up as a Bluetooth printer on the device via the Windows configuration. A printer is permanently assigned to a handset. There is no free choice possible (as for example with Bixolon WLAN printers). Info about the mobileprinter . A CLOU MOBILE Bluetooth printer is activated by selecting a COM interface. An alternative printer must be defined, a logo is optional. In addition, the printer must be set up as a Bluetooth printer for each mobile device in the respective station administration, for mPOS Handheld see here and for ePOS Tablet see here.

Registering a Bluetooth printer with the mPOS system

If a mobile printer has been set up, the operator will be asked at logon if and how he wants to use a mobile printer.

From practical experience, we strongly recommend labelling the printers clearly and instructing employees accordingly to ensure that no mix-ups can occur. Operators who connect the wrong printer or "get started" with the wrong printer cause a lot of confusion! A fixed pairing would also be perfect, so that you always use the devices in the same pairs.

The operator has the following options to choose from for pairing:

The logo is the company logo that is printed on the form. You should save the logo permanently in the printer and only select point 2 Connect and load logo if necessary, as the printer saves the logo even after switching off. The standard Connect command is usually always sufficient to print the logo reliably.

Background: The manufacturer of the Bixolon printer has used a special type of memory for this and writes: "As frequent write operations can damage the NV memory, it is recommended to write only when necessary". Hypersoft comment: No problems have been encountered in practice to date.

After selecting a printer, all forms (not order receipts) are printed on the selected printer (regardless of which output device is entered in the form itself).

Element / Switch Function / Description
Connect Connect establishes a connection with the printer that is registered to the handset via Bluetooth.
Connect & Load Logo

This selection establishes the connection and saves the logo for invoice printing (form) in the printer.

The maximum width for the logo is 384 pixels (the standard logos for stationary printers are too wide for the Bixolon). The mPOS system scales logos that are too large to 384 pixels, but this does not always look good. Please adapt your logo to it. The height is variable between 176 and 254 pixels.

For Bluetooth printers, the logo is loaded directly via this menu item.

No printer available

If you do not want to use a mobile printer, select this entry. The printers that are entered in the respective form of the station (subsystem) are then used.

Attention, with existing systems the printer could be set to MAX Bluetooth and therefore no printing would be possible.

To disconnect a connected printer, the operator must log off and select No printer present when logging on again.

Use pressure bypass The fallback printer stored in the settings dialogue in mPOS / Clou Mobile is used for all forms.

Possible mPOS error messages during operation

If a problem with the printer occurs during operation, you are offered the following options:

You can then check the printer, change the paper, replace the battery, etc. If you try again, the print will be output. If the printer cannot be reactivated at that time, a permanent redirection to the configured alternative printer is carried out by redirecting the printer. After creating an invoice, the print job is waited for by. If this does not happen within approx. 5-10 seconds, the following message is displayed.

If you choose Continue, the print job will be waited for another 5-10 seconds. When printing later, every time you return to the main menu of the mPOS or print another job, the system checks whether the print job can now be made up for (we do not use a timer function here to prevent printing from being completely unexpected).
