Reservations without interface

There are many reservation systems and only a few offer interfaces that also give you advantages in your daily work, such as the integration of aleno reservation or Hypersoft reservation. However, this does not mean that you cannot use your cherished reservation with the Hypersoft system.

In general, you can of course also use aleno and other programmes than are described here, practically and without an interface. However, advantages of the interface arise when using the customer base with Hypersoft.

Using Open Table and other large portals with Hypersoft

Open Table is one of the most widespread reservation programmes in the DACH region. It follows a marketing approach in which guests register in the "Open Table Network" and, for example, as tourists when visiting your city, then have the opportunity to be made aware of your restaurant. Currently, these markets are Germany, Austria and Switzerland as well as the UK and the USA, although the market presence in Switzerland, for example, is not as high due to active competitors. So you can at least assume that tourists from the UK and the USA will be offered your restaurant when they visit your city through Open Table. Of course, you should also keep in mind where the tourists in your city come from. For example, the UK and USA only account for about 20% of tourists in most cities. In order to reach the other 80%, other activities are worthwhile, such as promoting your own reservation, which you can also operate and advertise alongside Open Table. Of course, you can also promote your existing Open Table reservation system, because every reservation you make will increase the use of Open Table.

Tip 1 Use your own reservation platforms...

We refer to proprietary reservation platforms as those where your guests register with them and are then maintained in your customer base. In addition, such own reservations should not redirect interested parties to market companions (as the large portals do by default). In this context, please also note our tips under Best practice with reservation programmes for your success.

Our tips and notes:

  • For your reservations, also use a reservation programme that makes the data available only to you.

  • The possibility of the large portals to use reservations with their widgets on your site, possibly free of charge, also leads to data being passed on to the portals.

  • If it is certainly worthwhile for you to accept placements, use one or, consequently, all of the large portals only for these placements. Mostly you pay there per reservation / guest, so that you then also only have to pay for actually arranged reservations. In this context, the desire of some large platforms to work exclusively with you contradicts their marketing strategy (declared to you), so that you should refrain from exclusivity in your interest.

  • Explain and track reservations for regular guests in your own reservation programme with your marketing.

Tip 2 Adjust capacities...

Due to the lack of integration of the large reservation portals, you cannot automatically use their reservations as such in your own reservation.

Some possibilities for manual integration:

  • Include a contingent for outside reservations in your reservation.

  • Enter the brokered reservations in the integrated reservation so that you have a system for check-in at the POS, this then also allows you to overview your booking situation across several brokering portals.

  • If necessary (fully booked), block the allotments in the intermediary portals via their portals. Of course, further enquiries with the big portals will then be directed to your market companions, but you and your marketing will not still be directing your regulars there.
