POS Printer

POS printers are special printers for the point of sale that work best when integrated into the POS system with specific drivers.

Most printer control in the POS area is thus enabled with special Hypersoft drivers and protocol instances for reasons of operational reliability and speed. The necessary driver licences are included when you buy printers from Hypersoft, just as you can be sure that all functions have been tested with our printers and are safely available.

Hypersoft POS Standard Printer

Hypersoft always has one or more standard printers for the POS area that work with the standard communication defined by Epson. Over the years, not only various Epson printers have been used since the TM-T 85, but also numerous printers from other manufacturers that support the Epson standard.

However, we would like to warn you not to use any Epson compatible printers, because every printer that becomes Hypersoft Standard has been extensively tested beforehand. All too often, it turns out that the Epson standard by no means defines all the parameters, so there are glitches. These can be problems with QR codes (size of the code), reverse printing or simple basic functions. Therefore, only use our compatible standard printers. Also, the wrong / defective firmware may be installed in the printer, as other suppliers may not care about such corrections.

Only one POS printer with USB connection per POS terminal...

USB printers have established themselves as local printers that are used near the POS terminal. The printer manufacturers' drivers and the special way in which POS systems print are compatible for securely connecting a device via USB. No more than one POS printer should be connected to a device via USB, as this usually does not work or does not work reliably. If you urgently need a network printer, e.g. because you don't have the network cables, you can set up a (small) switch and connect any other network printers from there.

Best Practice Use IP Printer

The additional effort you may have to make to use IP printers can pay off especially if several wards use one printer and you want to ensure a particularly high availability of the printers. The fact that each station can address the printer itself ensures that a functioning IP protocol is sufficient (in emergency operation, this is even possible without a server) to print securely.

In contrast, a USB (or serial) connected printer receives the print jobs from other stations only after they have been carried out by the PC to which it is connected. Likewise, the printer must first forward returned error messages or intervention requests through the PC to the client.

Alternative method Release...

You can set up the printer at one terminal and share it with the other tills. For the other cash registers, this is available for selection as usual for release.

Important information for all methods: IP printers cannot currently open cash drawers or control a beep. With the function Alternate printer the timer for switching starts only with the first print job to a TCP/IP printer and not with the failure of the device.

Best Practice Printer Reliability

Depending on the mode of operation, an order printer can be an important component in your workflow. This is often overlooked and e.g. only a simple needle or thermal printer is used, which may even have been connected without IP and thus depending on the device (see above).

For the overall investment, you should also think about redundancy for the printers for your kitchen or preparation and use more than one or not only the necessary number of printers. If one of the printers actually fails during peak operation, its print jobs can be taken over by other devices more easily with good planning (automatic print diversion).

Likewise, printers that are used in tough everyday production should be replaced in good time before they unexpectedly fail at some point. Even if we all focus on sustainability, the POS printers available on the market are not designed to function for 10 years. If at any time these devices start to show faults, they should be replaced immediately. Repairs are usually possible but unfortunately not indicated, as other things will most likely fail after a short time. Refurbishing is not worthwhile either, because the surfaces can only be maintained hygienically for a limited number of years and otherwise the appliance consists almost entirely of wearing parts.

Therefore, pay attention to our Comments on Lifetime in the Hypersoft Portal, which is precisely oriented per device on the basis of the time of use with them.

Compatibility of special paper grades "Blue Paper

Blue paper can be a more environmentally friendly alternative to conventional thermal paper, especially when it comes to avoiding harmful chemicals. However, even with normal thermal paper, care can be taken to avoid harmful substances. There are also legitimate concerns about the cost and performance of blue paper. Overall, switching to digital receipts could be an even better solution, as it reduces paper consumption and offers additional benefits in terms of convenience and security. That's why we have developed NoCOO - Digital Billing for you. The decision as to whether to dispense with paper as far as possible depends on the specific needs and possibilities of the company in question. However, digital receipts are a promising way to reduce the ecological footprint while increasing efficiency and security.

Hypersoft favours high-quality paper...

Our POS printers are specially designed for industrial use. Unfortunately, we have found that inferior paper grades can cause problems, such as paper jams in high humidity or a shortened service lifeClosed The service life of an item is the time it can wait for delivery after completion with a tolerable loss of quality. This information can be used together with the preparation time. of the paper cutter with paper containing wood. Some sensors that monitor the paper level can be irritated by blue paper, causing the printer to print unreliably or not work at all. New environmentally friendly paper grades such as Blue Paper are often used carelessly. As these do not correspond to the standard, we cannot guarantee that they will always function perfectly. It is possible that future printer models will be compatible, but there is currently no reliable information on compatibility with all printers. Environmental awareness is important, but incompatible paper types can lead to malfunctions, additional support and the replacement of devices. Unfortunately, these negative effects outweigh the positive effects of such papers.

Incompatible with Blue Paper varieties are definitely:
