Noteworthy information about mPOS Client-Server
Install mPOS Client on other devices
To install the mPOS client on other devices, use the APP from the Play Store or the Apple Store. When you open the app, do not install the Freestyle version, but select the mPOS installation as the variant from the menu. Illustrations and details can be found in the mPOS Freestyle installation instructions section under Call up and activate the app for freestyle and permanent installation.
For Administrators
The mPOS Client App & mPOS Client, uses TCP and not UDP. TCP always provides a response that the programme needs. Therefore, do not use UDP.
The parallel operation of ZVT and Adyen (only possible as an exception anyway) excludes the simultaneous use of mPOS Client-Server at the location.
item keys
Some prefer horizontally arranged article buttons, others set the article buttons to the POS standard vertically. Select this here: Arrange item buttons vertically (like POS)
Pair Bixolon Bluetooth Belt Printer
The pairing of our standard Bixolon belt printers with the Adyen terminals (especially the Saturn EL) can only be done after installing a special Bixolon firmware (no standard Bixolon firmware update). If you have any further questions, please contact your specialist dealer or Hypersoft Support.
The drivers (and instructions) made available for download here through Hypersoft are licensed by Bixolon exclusively to Hypersoft customers and for printers purchased through Hypersoft. Download drivers and instructions here: Bixolon SPP-200 EC-Terminal Update.zip
Every customer who has received such a Bixolon printer from us has also received at least one of the special USB cables, otherwise we keep these ready for your needs (No standard USB, only similar). With the installation of the special firmware, the coupling behaviour of the printers changes in that, for example, confirmations have to be given that were not necessary before. Once a printer has been paired, it operates as usual in the standard mode. See which devices support the printer in PayPOS compatible devices and functional supports.
Limitations mPOS Client-Server
There are no known relevant boundaries. In general, very experienced users can experience minimal waiting times of about 1 second when changing dialogues, even with a good WLAN connection. As usual, transactions can take 1-2 seconds to complete. The mPOS server does not place a special burden on the PCs or POS terminals and the mPOS client does not place a special burden on the mobile devices (should the use be extended to standard Android devices, information on the minimum requirements will appear at this point).
The fax function appears somewhat delayed on the client compared to the standard mPOS, but can be used. Other inputs such as SMS etc. are unrestricted. Look out for Best practice against fraud with fax functions.
Battery life...
Since mPOS devices are not used continuously, it is difficult to give precise information. We assume that our units can be used for approx. 8 hours in average interrupted operation. According to current tests, the new mPOS client requires rather less energy than the standard mPOS. However, if this runs on a payment terminal with an integrated printer, printing consumes additional energy at the expense of the usage time.
Special gestures with the mPOS Client
In general, the mPOS system has gesture control. The mPOS Client System has additional special gestures:
Battery and WLAN settings of the client
The special gestures, battery warning and WLAN lock screen are currently only available for PayPOS and will be added to the mPOS client server shortly.
With the 2 finger gesture from top to bottom, you will get to the login where you will have a cogwheel symbol for 10 seconds to get to the settings.
The cogwheel symbol takes you to the service settings :
The threshold for a battery warning is set to 10% in the example. The lock screen for too weak WLAN to 80 dBm. The lock screen prevents unsafe working in the WLAN due to a lack of adequate connection quality.
Disable lock screen...
You can deactivate the lock screen by setting the value to 0 (zero).
Status display of the client device...
At the client, the user receives important status information in the footer of the cashier mode:
The currently installed version (this must always be the currently available version). The battery status, so that the machine does not run out unexpectedly and the operator can recharge if necessary (only a few machines have exchangeable batteries available, consult the hardware information or the terminal information for PayPOS if necessary).
Battery warning...
For early detection of a low battery, an indication flashes based on the set threshold value, alternating with the lower info display:
The lock screen prevents problems when working in the weak WLAN...
For example, your operators should know where the access points are located so that in borderline situations they position themselves in such a way that you do not additionally shield the WLAN with your own body.
mPOS is used in the WLAN, which does not always function optimally. Even if the WLAN indicates good quality and the mPOS client is connected to the server, data throughput may be restricted because the network is affected by downloads or streaming, for example.
To ensure that the operator always has a secure feeling when working with mPOS, the display is locked for a fraction of a second for each input transmitted and a red dot is displayed at the point of input; the dot is removed and the display unlocked once the server has successfully processed the input. This happens so quickly as standard that the operator sees and notices nothing.
However, if the data throughput is poor, confirmation and release may take some time and the red dot will appear. This also avoids misunderstandings where the operator presses the button several times in these situations and then unintentionally triggers double bookings.
If the red dot is clearly visible or even disturbs you, then communication to the mPOS server and back to the handset is simply taking too long. In practice, this can have many causes.
-
Check whether the speed varies depending on your position within the company; if so, have the WLAN improved.
-
If it occurs especially when there are a lot of guests, have the WLAN improved.
-
If it always works otherwise and the possibility arises, you can exceptionally initiate a restart of the Hypersoft system and in particular the server.
Further documentation: WLAN requirements
This function is active by default, but can be switched off via the Verify feedback service settings.
To ensure that the WLAN on the client is switched on and functional, the connection to the Internet is checked.
As situations can arise, e.g. in the event of an internet failure, the mPOS client would then be blocked. This block can be cancelled in the service settings if required by deactivating the check.
ISS examination...
The mPOS client programme checks every minute whether the IIS is accessible. If not, a message appears and the start attempt is repeated (occurs when components such as slave servers are switched off).
Remote access to the mPOS Client
The mPOS client programmes run on the mPOS server in your company. The display is on the mobile devices and serves as the basis for the remote control of the clients. If necessary, you can have the clients displayed as an icon on the taskbar:
Device-dependent keystrokes
The programme uses the keyboard of the operating system (of the respective device) for, for example: PLU input, fax, customer search, room search, etc.
Station overview of the connected units
The devices that are connected as mPOS client, mobile PayPOS or via Freestyle UX can be displayed. Go to the relevant ward via the ward management and start Edit ward, select mPOS and Clou Mobile Setup and select Status overview of running devices.
Subsystems for invoice printing
With the standard subsystems and the possibility of assigning printers by table areas via mPOS Smart Swap, you can also work on the mPOS client system. Example:
But once a printer is paired with the mobile device, the paired printer is used. If the printer fails or no printer is paired, the default printer setting in Smart Swap applies again.
Update procedure mPOS client APK for Honeywell Android and compatible devices
The mPOS client app (com.hs.mposclient.apk) is distributed using the Hypersoft standard update procedure.
A version check takes place every time a connection is made between the app and the mPOS client (PayPOS). As soon as a new version is available, this is signalled in the app.
As the app is not installed by the Google Play Store (c), the following steps must be carried out in the dialogues that appear automatically: Select Settings in the first dialogue:
In the second dialogue, activate the button Trust this source:
Select Install in the third dialogue:
The app update is then executed and can be started after installation.
If the connection is interrupted, the update will be offered again the next time the connection is established.
Error handling of the mPOS client-server system. In rare cases, black screens may still occur. The programme detects this, reports it to the operator and automatically returns the operator to the start screen. As soon as we find out in which situation this occurs, the inconvenience will of course be remedied.
